It is the process of removing the plaque and the calculus (tartar) from the teeth. By using of EMS ultrasonic device and special tips, we clean the teeth. Next comes the polishing with polishing pastes and brushes. Air-flow polishing is an additional procedure for removing any stains from the teeth.
Prevention of caries occurs mainly by proper oral hygiene and proper nutrition. We can prevent caries by fluoridation of the teeth, in children in age of 6-15 years old, in order to strengthen and protect the teeth. The use of Sealants on permanent teeth is intended to prevent caries from teeth that are not affected by it. Both procedures are painless and acceptable from the children.
When our teeth are affected by the caries, they must be immediately restored with a dental filling. After the necessary cleaning of the tooth from the caries, the appropriate restoration by materials of high aesthetics and strength is followed. The tooth has again the image and morphology of a natural tooth. In our clinic we use 3M Ultimate (made in USA) and high aesthetic HRi (Gruppo Micerium) dental composite resins.
After the endodontic treatment of teeth with partial or total destruction of their crown, either by trauma or caries, the restoration and the reconstruction of the tooth follows by the use of fiber-glass posts. Intra-root posts of glass-fibers have the advantage of aesthetics, as they have the colour of a natural tooth. They fit tightly inside root canals and give elasticity the same as our dental teeth, thus avoiding the possibility of fracture of the root due to pressure.
